President Li Xiaolin held a meeting with Amway President Doug DeVos on December 8th, 2016. President Li commends the great importance Amway has attached to the development of China-US relationship during its growth in China. She hopes that the company will continue to exert positive impact on the China-US trade cooperation and play a constructive role in advancing the bilateral relationship after the new U.S. administration goes into power.  President DeVos appreciates the strong support the CPAFFC has given to the subnational and economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Being the world’s largest direct selling enterprise, Amway highly values China market and will further stick to the corporate social responsibility and make due contribution to the future development of U.S.-China relations.                                 

On 6 December, Workshops of China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum were held in Beijing. Representatives from China and Denmark participated in the four workshops “green urbanisation”, “improving public health”, “sustainable food and agriculture”, and “strengthening people-to-people exchange” under the theme of “Focusing on Sustainable Development towards Shared Economic Growth”. They held in-depth exchanges and discussions on the topics as Green Solution for Sustainable Urbanisation, Sustainable Solutions for District Heating and Cooling, National Regulations on Air Pollution from Heavy Traffic, Water Solutions for the Big Green Cities, Off Shore Wind for Sustainability, Public Health Reform and Capacity Building, Healthcare Innovation from Policy to Local Implementation, Sustainability within Food and Agricultural Systems, Financing Agricultural Technology, Tourism, Art, Sports, and Education.  On the morning of 6 December, Danish Minister for Gender Equality and Nordic Cooperation Karen Ellemann Kloch, who visited China to attend the China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, joined Workshops and visited the supporting exhibitions. She asked with great interest business performance of the participating enterprises, tasted diary products provided by China-Denmark Milk Technology Cooperation Centre, and held talks with Workshops’ speakers including Mr Fang Laiying, Director General of Beijing Health and Family Planning Commission and senior representatives from VIA University College. Minister Karen Ellemann Kloch said the Workshops were well attended and she felt the rising enthusiasm for China-Denmark cooperation. She was impressed by the strong willingness of the two countries to cooperate, and wished the Forum a complete success.

On the evening of December 6, the Closing Banquet of the China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum was co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC). Executive Vice Mayor of Beijing Li Shixiang, Vice President of the CPAFFC Hu Sishe and Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Frank Jensen attended the Banquet and addressed the audience. Danish Ambassador to China Carsten Damsgaard together with 350 government and business representatives from the two countries attended the Banquet. Young performers from the Music Confucius Institute at the Royal Danish Academy of Music jointly established by the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and the Royal Danish Academy of Music sang famous Chinese and foreign songs, pushing the Banquet to an exciting climax.

Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met in Beijing with Mr. FUMIHIRO KOBA, President of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (JCCIC), and his delegation on December 6th. President Li spoke highly of the efforts JCCIC had made over the past several years on promoting the friendship of the two countries. Nearly a total number of 600 Chinese college students in 19 batches visited Japan through 2 sessions of the program of Walking into Japanese Enterprises · Experiencing Japanese Culture for orgnazing the Chinese college students to visit Japan that has been held since 2007. The program is praised by all parties for it not only provided advanced experience of Japanese enterprises for the Chinese college students, but also enhanced mutual understanding and friendship of the youth between the two countries. The third session cooperation agreement signed this time would be beneficial to deepening the mutual understanding and friendship of the two youth, as well as cultivating the successors for the cause of Sino-Japanese friendship. President FUMIHIRO KOBA thanked CPAFFC for its active cooperation in the implement of the former two sessions of the programs. The third session of the program launched by the member enterprises of the JCCIC, reflects that JCCIC and its members attach great importance to the friendly exchanges between the two youth  in fields of the economy, culture, education and etc.. They also hope that the program will be held better and better with the help of the Chinese side. After the meeting, under the witness of President Li Xiaolin and President FUMIHIRO KOBA, China-Japan Friendship Association (CJFA) and China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD) signed the Third Session Cooperation Agreement of the Program of Walking into Japanese Enterprises · Experiencing Japanese Culture with JCCIC respectively.

On the afternoon of 5 December, President Li Xiaolin of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC) met with Mr Jacob Bundsgaard, Mayor of Aarhus and Vice President of Local Government Denmark, who visited China to attend the Inaugural China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum. President Li Xiaolin welcomed the Local Government Denmark delegation led by Mayor Jacob Bundsgaard. She highlighted that the Forum was attended by 6 regions and cities from Denmark and over 30 provinces and cities from China, which manifested the strong willingness to cooperate between the two countries’ local governments. She hoped the Forum would add new content to the China-Denmark Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Mayor Bundsgaard said that Denmark valued local cooperation with China, and it would like to carry out practical cooperation with China through regions and cities and bring benefits to the two peoples. He looked forward to hosting the next Forum in Aarhus.  Mr Hu Sishe, Vice Preisident of CPAFFC, Mr. Shen Xin and Ms. Zhang Ruoning, Deputy Director-Generals of the Department of European and Asian Affairs, were present at the meeting.

Minister Karen Ellemann Kloch said she hoped to strengthen China-Denmark local governments’ practical cooperation through the Forum and jointly build livable cities. Mr Hu Sishe, Vice Preisident of CPAFFC, Mr. Shen Xin and Ms. Zhang Ruoning, Deputy Director-Generals of the Department of European and Asian Affairs, were present at the meeting.

Mr. Yang Jiechi, State Councillor of China and Mrs. Karen Ellemann Kloch, Minister for Gender Equality and Nordic Cooperation, attended the first China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum in Beijing and delivered speeches respectively on December 5th. The forum was jointly organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Royal Danish Embassy in China. Yang Jiechi pointed out that under the guidance of the Five Major Development Concepts of Innovation, Coordination, Green, Openness and Sharing, initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping，China is moving towards the goal of establishing a well-off society in an all-round way. It is the right time to strengthen the experience sharing and pragmatic cooperation between the Chinese and Danish regions and cities. Both sides should have in-depth exchanges  in development strategies and discussion in new fields of pragmatic cooperation in order the better to serve the development of the both countries and benefit to the two peoples. Karen Ellemann Kloch said, the Danish side pays high attention to the relationship with China. She hoped that the forum would become the platform  of continuously deepening  cooperation, sharing knowledge, technology and solutions for the two countries, which could promote the development of the Chinese and Danish regions and cities. On the morning of 5 December, starting from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC), Danish Minister for Gender Equality and Nordic Cooperation Karen Ellemann Kloch, who visited China to attend the China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum at the invitation of the CPAFFC, together with the Danish regional and municipal leaders and the Danish Ambassador to China Carsten Damsgaard, visited Beijing’s scenes by biking. She hoped to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection and low carbon transportation by ways that the Danish people like and advocate. Before the bicycling, the Danish delegation listened to the report on Beijing’s Plan for Coordinated Development for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region presented by Senior Engineer Mr Wang Liang from Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall. The Inaugural China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum themed “Focusing on Sustainable Development towards Shared Economic Growth” was co-hosted by the CPAFFC and the Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing. 

On December 5, CPAFFC Vice President Mme. Lin Yi met with the delegation led by Hon. Ace Magashule, Premier of Free State Province, South Africa. Mme. Lin Yi welcomed the delegation and introduced the CPAFFC’s exchanges with South Africa at local government level. She said that recent years have witnessed strong momentum in China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as tangible results in friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. The CPAFFC is willing to make more contributions to China-South Africa local government exchanges for win-win cooperation and common development.  Hon. Ace Magashule said that Free State has been in close contact with a number of Chinese localities, enterprises and universities. He is ready to work with the CPAFFC to enhance cooperation in local government, youth and culture so as to consolidate people-to-people friendship.

A reception for celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Belgium was held in Beijing by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Embassy of Belgium in China on December 4th. H.E. Mr. Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and Mr. Siegfried Bracke, President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Belgium, attended the reception. Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of CPAFFC and Mr. Michel Malherbe, Ambassador of the Embassy of Belgium in China, proposed toasts respectively. Vice Chairman Arken Imirbaki and President Siegfried Bracke jointly unveiled the plaque for the commemorative envelope of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Belgium on the reception. They all watched the excellent performances played by the traditional Chinese instrument Peizhu and traditional Belgian instrument Saxophone . More than 150 representatives from various circles in Beijing attended the reception.
