On 8th March, Vice President Lin Yi met with Mr. Dinos Florides, President of the Cyprus China Friendship Association (CCFA), and the CCFA delegation headed by him. Ambassador of Cyprus Mr. Agis Loizou was present at the meeting. Vice President Lin Yi made a brief introduction about the recent activities of the CPAFFC, and exchanged views with the CCFA and Ambassador Loizou on how to promote people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between our two countries. 

On March 7, Madame Lin Yi, Vice President of CPAFFC, met with Ms. Evangeline Ducrocq, who is leaving her post as Minister of the Philippine Embassy in Beijing. Madame Lin extended gratitude to Ms. Ducrocq for her support to CPAFFC over the years and indicated that CPAFFC co-hosted a number of friendly activities with the Philippine side last year, especially the Seminar of Chinese and Philippine Local Government Leaders which was the first bilateral cooperation mechanism of local governments between China and ASEAN member states. The CPAFFC will work with the Philippine side to further promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation between people-to-people friendship organizations and local governments. Madame Lin hoped that Ms. Ducrocq can continue to support the cause of people-to-people friendship between China and the Philippines in the future. Ms. Ducrocq spoke highly of CPAFFC’s contribution in bilateral relations during her term of office in China as well as CPAFFC’s unique role in promoting friendship-city relations and local government cooperation. The Philippine Embassy will keep close contact with CPAFFC to carry on and develop the traditional friendship between the two countries.

On March 4, CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi met with Mr. O.O. Orevba, Charge d'Affaires of Nigerian Embassy in China. Mme. Lin welcomed Mr. O.O. Orevba to visit the CPAFFC soon after assuming his office in China. She made a detailed introduction to the CPAFFC’s work, especially the Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation and people-to-people exchanges with African countries. She also reviewed the exchanges between the CPAFFC and Nigeria in recent years, and said that the CPAFFC will take the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria as an opportunity to promote communication and cooperation with Nigeria in terms of local government, so as to strengthen China-Nigeria friendship.  Mr. O.O. Orevba thanked Mme. Lin Yi for sparing the time to meet him, and spoke highly of the CPAFFC’s commitment to developing China-Africa relations. He said Nigerian and Chinese people enjoy profound friendship, and hoped to enhance cooperation with the CPAFFC during his term and make greater contributions to Nigeria-China relations.

At the invitation of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Deputy Director General Zhang Ruoning and her four member delegation visited the UK from 29 Feb to 4 Mar. The delegation met with representatives from UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Sheffield City Council, China - Britain Business Council and TCA Consulting to conduct preparatory work for the inaugural China-UK Regional Leaders Exchange Programme. They also paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy in the UK to inform the latest progress of the programme.

Co-initiated by Beingmate and China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD), the Beingmate Growth Fund Establishment Ceremony was held in the morning of March 2. 2016 in Hang Zhou, Zhejiang Province. Both sides agreed on a donation cooperation of 10 years in the future and the first donation amounted to 64 million Yuan. President Li Xiaolin of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC) , founder of Beingmate and children philanthropist Xie Hong, executive vice president Zhang Jian of Chinese Football Association(CFA) , general secretary Li Xikui of CPAFFC , general secretary Jia Ling of CFFPD , former sole-duty vice president of CFA and expert consultant of CFFPD Yan Shiduo, former player of Chinese national football team Hao Haidong and Sun Wen, former player of Chinese women football team, attended the ceremony. In the address on the establishment ceremony, president Li Xiaolin of CPAFFC hoped that the Beingmate Growth Fund can contribute to friends-making as well as teenager-education through Football matches, meanwhile also intensifying friendly communication among international teenagers, strengthening backup force for football course, promoting the integration process of school football to professional football, drawing attention to as well as improving the nutrition and health level of women and children. The Fund has hired Yan Shiduo, vice president of the CFA as chief expert consultant and Hao Haidong, Sun Wen as image ambassadors.

The council meeting of China and Czech Friendship Association(CCFA) for re-election  was held in the Peace Palace of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) on February 29. Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of the CPAFFC, Mme, Huo Yuzhen, the new President of the CCFA, Mme Qi Mei, Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China attended the meeting and made speeches respectively. Mr. Shen Xin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of European and Asian Affairs of the CPAFFC, hosted the meeting. Mr. Lv Hongwei, Secretary General of CCFA made a report on the work. More than 40 representatives were appointed as new council members of CCFA. They came from the fields of foreign affairs, economy, culture, academy, education, health and so on. Beijing Children’s Hospital, The China National Children's Center, China-Czech Friendship Farm, Liaoning People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries were elected as the council units of CCFA. The new statute of the CCFA was passed and the new leading group led by President Huo Yuzhen was elected. She is Special Representative of Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, and the former Chinese ambassador to Czech.

On February 29th, CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi met with Kumba Momoh, Deputy Head of Mission of Sierra Leone Embassy in China. Mme. Lin welcomed Mme. Kumba to visit CPAFFC and congratulated Sierra Leone on defeating the Ebola epidemic and its return to the track of development. She introduced CPAFFC’s work in promoting China-Africa local government cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy. She also pointed out that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sirra Leone. The CPAFFC will take this opportunity to enhance cooperation with the embassy and make greater contribution to strengthening China-Sierra Leone friendship. Mme. Momoh expressed her gratitude to Mme. Lin Yi for sparing the time to meet her, and introduced economic recovery strategies by the government of Sierra Leone in “Post-Ebola Era”. She said that the Sierra Leone government is grateful to the Chinese government and people for their contribution to the fight against Ebola disease and it is looking forward to further development of Sierra Leone-China relations after the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit.

The 2016 donation ceremony of the KUMOHO TIRE Future Belongs to Children Funds of China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD) was held in Beijing on February 26th, 2016. Mme. Lin Yi, Director of CFFPD, met with Mr. CHO JAE SUK, Chairman of the Board of the KUMHO TIRE CHINA CO.,INC and his delegation; during the ceremony, Director Lin Yi issued a donation certificate to Mr. CHO JAE SUK Director Lin Yi thanked KUMHO TIRE CHINA CO.,INC for supporting Chinese special education cause over the years. She hoped that the both sides would develop more public programs in the future and help more handicapped children. She also expressed the wishes that KUMHO TIRE CHINA CO.,INC could make more contributions to people-to-people exchanges between China and Korea. Chairman CHO JAE SUK said, it is a great pleasure to make contributions to the Chinese welfare cause, and he would continue making great efforts on the friendship between China and Korea. Mme. Jia Lin, Secretary General of the CFFPD, signed 2016 funds donation agreement with Chairman CHO JAE SUK.   The KUMHO TIRE Future Belongs to Children Funds was set up by KUMHO TIRE CHINA CO., INC in 2012. The aim of the funds is to develop mentally handicapped children in music, dance, and so on. The funds are also used for social integration education for handicapped children and training courses for teachers from Special Education Schools. So far, KUMHO TIRE CHINA CO.,INC has totally donated 280 million RMB, and supported 9 Special Education Schools in Beijing, Nanjing and Tianjin in all. More than 4500 persons were benefited. KUMHO TIRE CHINA CO.,INC donated additional 1 billion Won (about 548,000 RMB) to the KUMHO TIRE Future Belongs to Children Funds.  Mr. Sun Xueqing, Deputy Director General of the Department of Asian and African Affairs of CPAFFC, attended the above meeting.   

On 26 Feburary, 2016, the Press Conference of the 2016 Year of China-CEEC People-to-people and Cultural Exchanges was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse by the Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries. Present at the Conference were Assistant Foreign Minister and Secretary General of the Secretariat Liu Haixing, Assistant Secretary of State for the Latvian Foreign Ministry, the Ambassadors and representatives from the 16 Embassies of Central and Eastern European Countries, Chinese co-hosts of the Year of People-to-people and Cultural Exchanges, and media from home and abroad. Lv Hongwei, deputy director general of European and Asian Department of CPAFFC, attended the conference on behalf of CPAFFC as member of the Secretariat.

The National Governors Association(NGA) Winter Meeting was held in Washington D.C. from February19 to 22. Director General Zhang Heqiang of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, leading a CPAFFC delegation, attended the States Attracting Investments and Business Locations session, during which he conversed with state Trade and Economic Development Directors from Missouri, North Dakota and Tennessee. He also talked with NGA Director Mark Brady of International Trade and Economic Development on issues concerning the Fourth China-US Governors Forum to be held in China. Both sides agreed to work together for the success of the forum.
